Castle wedding in the Alps

DESPERATE – Her words really touched me.

An American bride-to-be realized that nothing seemed to be working out as planned for her wedding. The big day was only 3 months away.

It was going to be a fairytale wedding at a Tyrolean castle in the Alps. The only thing that had been confirmed was the venue itself. It wasn’t the bride’s fault that the planning had gone so terribly wrong. Various circumstances kept jeopardizing her dream wedding in the Alps.

HOPEFUL

Her miserable situation triggered my fight instinct as a wedding planner. I decided to take on the challenge. The same night we started organizing her wedding. We weren’t going to lose any more time!

SAFE

I returned early from my stay in Italy to professionally plan her wedding from my office in Austria. It turned out that the bride had envisioned a 4-day destination wedding in the Alps, not just a 1-day ceremony.

After putting in numerous hours, several night shifts and thousands of emails and phone calls, we knew we could do it: We would accomplish this mission.

EXCITED

The wedding guests were welcomed with beautiful welcome bags full of surprises at the hotel: Tyrol day (beer & brats at a mountain restaurant)

Our strategy at Written in the Stars Weddings & Celebrations was to wow the American wedding party on their first day by introducing them to the fantastic world of the Tyrolean mountains.

We took them to Umbrüggler Alm, a beautiful mountain restaurant above Innsbruck, for refreshments and live Tyrolean music. The sporty ones could hike up there. Everybody else took a shuttle.

The restaurant served delicious Tyrolean specialties and fresh tap beer.

Everybody stayed until the sun set and enjoyed the magic view of the city of Innsbruck under a starry sky. It was the perfect prelude to a dreams-come-true wedding in the Alps.

JOYFUL – Welcome dinner

The next morning, the international wedding guests got to experience the historic heritage of the city of Innsbruck on a special guided walking tour through the old town.

In the evening, the Adler’s restaurant hosted a welcome dinner for the wedding party on their spectacular terrace. A jovial get-together with cocktails and appetizers was followed by a deluxe dinner with a breathtaking view of the beautiful city and the magnificent mountains. A live band provided the perfect setting for some dancing amidst the Tyrolean mountains.

LOVED – Castle wedding in the Alps

While the bride and bridesmaids enjoyed a relaxed breakfast, our Written in the Stars team was working full speed, preparing the final details for the wedding ceremony at the Friedberg castle.

We coordinated all the on-site vendors and suppliers. This included a staff of 50 for the wedding day.

Ten musicians were there. Thousands of flowers were set up. Special furniture that had been delivered in the previous days was put in place. The catering team made their final arrangements for the wedding dinner. Balloons were inflated. Sound checks were performed. Special lighting was installed.

Everything was perfect for the big moment: the First Look. Just the bride and the groom, accompanied by a few discreet camera snapping sounds.

Meanwhile, the wedding party was introduced to the medieval castle, gathering at the end of the rose garden for the wedding ceremony.

There they were, sitting along massive castle walls amidst the majestic peaks, waiting for the bride’s appearance. You could sense the excitement in the air.

Then the stunning bride appeared. Framed by this fantastic backdrop, she stepped on the white carpet leading her to the groom. All eyes were on her. The only sound was the band playing “A thousand years”. It was a truly magical moment.

Everything that followed – the reception in the courtyard, the dinner in the count’s hall and the epic party until the early morning hours in the historic castle rooms – went smoothly. The emotions were overwhelming.

Thanks to all the subcontractors and service providers for being so extremely professional and reliable. They helped Written in the Stars make a bridal couple’s dreams come true.

RELIEVED – Breakfast

The lavish breakfast buffet at the Penz hotel the next morning was clearly well received by the wedding guests after all the excitement of the preceding day. The pace seemed to slow down, as everybody was just taking it easy, reminiscing about the previous night.

HAPPY

Finally, our ultimate moment of reward at Written in the Stars: seeing all the smiling faces exchanging stories and memories. The happy amorous bridal couple surrounded by their loved ones.

This is our moment of bliss at Written in the Stars Weddings & Celebrations by Verena Krenn. It’s when our mission is accomplished. Our mission to turn a couple’s wedding into an extraordinary and memorable event. The event of a lifetime.
