A furry-tail wedding in the Alps
There’s no way you’d get married without your beloved pooches? A wedding without their two huskies Teddy & Sky would have been unthinkable for Verena from WhoisMocca? and Thepawsometyroleans and her husband Christian.
We’ll show you how.
Autumn wedding in the Alps with dog
Last fall we had the pleasure of organizing a breathtaking and very touching dog-friendly autumn wedding. As a professional wedding planner in Austria, this wasn’t our first furry wedding. Many of our discerning wedding guests insist on having their pawy family members join in the wedding fun.
How to plan a wedding with dog
You obviously want your pooches right by your side during your most important day. At the same time, this shouldn’t add stress to your wedding. Written in the Stars Weddings & Celebrations has put together an outline of the most important points on how to incorporate your dogs into your wedding.
Choosing the right wedding venue
The first step is to decide how and where you’d like your unique wedding with dogs to take place. Make sure you choose a dog-friendly wedding venue. A location where dogs are welcome and where they’ll have enough space to themselves.
We booked an exclusive wedding venue with direct access to a dog-friendly park for Verena and Christian. Their outdoor ceremony was held on a covered terrace. It was followed by a deluxe dinner in an elegant ballroom. This allowed them to have their huskies walked in the nearby park at any time.
Make sure the ceremony and reception are at the same location. It’s easier for your tail-waggers if they don’t have to adjust to a new place.
Ensure that your dogs will have a comfy spot for their naps. A place that suits their napping habit. This could be a car parked in a quiet area or a silent room away from the hustle and bustle. A place where they feel comfortable. Remember, if you dogs are stressed, you will be stressed and vice versa.
From the moment we started looking for a venue until the end of our big day, Verena Krenn was there for us, making sure our wedding dream came true.Verena Ratz, www.whoismocca.com
Wedding Programm with dogs
Don’t plan your wedding program too tightly. Spreading the individual wedding activities out will help you stick to your timeline while allowing enough flexibility to incorporate your dogs’ needs. You know… a sniff here and a sniff there. Time flies when you do a wedding photoshoot with dogs.
Would you like to have your dogs in the actual wedding ceremony? If so, keep it down to 30 minutes. If you want a longer ceremony, decide which parts your dogs should join.
Wedding dog chaperon
So your day has come. The day to say “I do”. The day of your extraordinary wedding. Surely, the experience will be overwhelming, and yes, you will feel some degree of anxiety. With their acute senses, your dogs will quickly pick up the tension: Lots of new people. Different routines. Something’s going on!
To ensure that your dogs feel comfortable and enjoy your big day, we will help you assign a trusted family member or friend to take care of your pets. We can also organize a professional wedding dog chaperon for you. For Verena’s autumn wedding, we had arranged a special dog trainer that Sky and Teddy were familiar with.
This allowed the couple to have their two beloved huskies right by their side during the entire ceremony. The dog trainer was there to help out whenever necessary. It was quite the picture to see the four of them stand under the wedding arch.
Verena and Christian were able to truly enjoy their incredible wedding, chat with their guests and dance until the early morning hours. Teddy and Sky loved their walks in the park, cuddled up in their quiet spot and ate lots of yummy cheese.
I think back on our humanist wedding ceremony in October so often. Our wedding day turned out exactly the way we had planned it for months.Verena Ratz, www.whoismocca.com
A wedding with dogs has a special magic. I am still touched by Verena and Christian’s wonderful autumn wedding with Teddy & Sky. If you include a few extra aspects in your planning, incorporating your family pets will be a great success.
I must admit that I am one who does not like to relinquish control. Verena has a good feel for people. She proved to me that a wedding planner is really a fantastic help! She was always on top of things without giving me the feeling that I had to surrender too much responsibility.Verena Ratz, www.whoismocca.com
